Do you know how deep UV rays penetrate into the skin?

UVA and UVB rays make it through our atmosphere, and UVB Rays cause Sunburns. However, UVA rays go deeper into the skin and cause wrinkles.
All UV rays damage skin increasing the risk of skin cancer.

There are two types of Sunscreens, Physical and Chemical.

Physical Sunscreen:
Have immediate protection
Non- irritating
Does not penetrate into the skin
Safe for sensitive skin and babies
Anti-inflammatory and soothing
Natural Mineral
It made from Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide

Chemical Sunscreen:
It takes 30-45 minutes to work
Can be irritating
Can penetrate into the skin

It is best to use 100% physical sunscreen, which is suitable for all skin types and conditions. Also, however, it suffers from sensitive skin acne-prone skin, and it can be used post-treatment to give instant SPF protection without adding any moisture to the skin.

Also, it is very important to protect our skin from blue light; the need for protection from blue light has arisen in recent years given that the the source of blue light is not only the sun: digital screens from smartphones, computers and televisions emit a high amount of blue light wavelengths.
At Elley Spa, we offer Dermaquest SheerZinc SPF to protect your skin from sun rays and blue light.

Why around eye requires different care than the rest of your face skincare routine?!

Around the eye is sensitive, and the skin is much thinner hence needs extra attention.

‘If your eyes are a window into your soul’, you need to pay extra attention and care for the skin around them.

Around the eyes has the thinnest and most sensitive skin also, it the first signs of ageing revels around our eye. Why is that? Because the skin around the eye area doesn’t have as many oil glands and collagen as the rest of your face and body, it is more prone to dryness, droopiness, fine lines, and wrinkle.

What to do and what to prevent?

  • Always treat your eye skin with the right products and moisturiser. A good eye cream penetrates the area to deliver the needed hydration.
  • Don’t use your regular face moisturiser or serum for your eyelid to get the job done. You need to use the eye cream designed explicitly for the eyelid as it might be too strong for the skin around the eye.
  • The eye area is delicate, but that doesn’t mean you need to use a bland moisturiser. The best eye creams are the one that contains retinol, a vitamin A derivative.
  • Dark circles are another common problem for the eye counter area. Sometimes even by having enough sleep, it won’t go away. That’s because there is a genetic component. It’s hard to get rid of entirely, but they’re a nice cream that contains caffeine of vitamin k, which can help with circulation to lighten the circles
  • If you wake up in the morning with a puffy eye, it might be because of accumulated fluid around your eyes while you sleep. The common solution is to have a jade stone and keep it in the refrigerator, and in the morning, use it around the eye and gently massage the area; the Stone is available at the Elley Spa. The cooling action will help reduce puffiness and blood flow to reduce swelling.
  • To reduce fine lines and wrinkles, the eye cream that contains retinol and retinoid can be used as retinol and retinoid are vitamin A derivatives that stimulate the skin cell and collagen production.

So why do people choose to detox? Our bodies have natural detoxification pathways. However, in this modern-day, we face increased exposure to toxins, and our bodies need a little bit more help.

Energy Boost

From time to time, we will all experience that sluggish feeling. But, if you are regularly feeling sluggish, you may want to consider a detox. This can help remove those excess toxins from your body. The results will be an increase in your energy, and you’ll soon feel full of energy and strong enough to face any day. You will also notice your mood is improved too. You’ll have a clearer and more positive mind.

Good Digestion and Weight Management

Sometimes the toxins in our bodies can interfere with proper metabolic functions. A detoxification treatment can remove these toxins and help long-term weight management. You will find that your body will be back to a proper metabolic function which allows you to manage healthy eating and lifestyle habits better.

Inflammation Reduction

Your diet is an essential part of detox. Detoxing treatments will support your digestive system, which will help reduce inflammation. Inflammation in your body can be a contributor to a whole host of health problems. Many people feel like they have a whole new body after detoxing, and this could be the reason for that.

Healthy Looking Skin

Detoxing removes the free radicals, heavy metals and other toxins from your skin. When these nasty things within your body are removed, you will quickly notice an improved appearance in your skin. Don’t be surprised when other people see and comment on it too.

Lavender aromatherapy oil is fabulous for relaxation and relieving stress. Meanwhile, bergamot aromatherapy oil is also great for reducing stress, but it has the additional use of improving skin conditions such as eczema.

If a client feels they need help to calm their nerves and to help, them improve their focus, we will often recommend sandalwood aromatherapy oil. Rose aromatherapy oil is excellent for improving a client’s mood while reducing any feelings of anxiety.

You may recognise chamomile as a famous smell in young children and babies wash products? Chamomile is a high aromatherapy oil as it promotes relaxation. Chamomile aromatherapy oil also helps our clients gain a mood boost during an aromatherapy massage too.

Jasmine is an aromatherapy oil we would recommend to people struggling with feelings of depression. Ylang Ylang aromatherapy oils are excellent for treating headaches and nausea. If you are struggling with digestion or a low moon, you may find that lemon aromatherapy oils work for you.

Aromatherapy massages are used for different reasons. They help our clients with relaxation, pain management and improved mood. There are many benefits to massage for our clients, by adding aromatherapy and essential oils we are enhancing these benefits.

Our clients find that an aromatherapy massage helps to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Aromatherapy massages are one of our most popular massages for our clients due to the feeling during and after the massage treatment.

Here at Elley Spa, we know that there are so many amazing benefits of massage for our clients. Our clients are unique and different, and they all come to us for a massage for many different reasons, and our clients gain different things from having a massage

However, in this blog post, we have put together what we think are the top benefits of massage. Have a look and see if you agree;

1. Massage therapy reduces tension in the muscles. These days we are often sat over desks, bent over mobile phones or slumped on the sofa. These positions can result in muscle tension that can cause pain. Our Massage treatments can release this tension and reduce muscle pain.

2. Booking a massage is an excellent way of making time for you. A massage is like meditation in the way that you get to lay down and think of nothing. You can completely clear your mind of any stresses and worries. Not only does this lead to a better level of calm and mindfulness, but it can also result in a better night’s sleep too.

3. Due to the fact you are taking that time out for yourself and having some downtime, you will also boost your immune functions. All due to the relaxation side of our massages, the massage helps enhance circulation around your body. Massage supports and helps your body stay fit and healthy.

4. Massage can also speed up the healing process of soft tissue injuries. It is helping relieve stress around the damage, but it also helps boost your circulation around your body. Massage is incredibly popular for people that have had sports injuries and want to recover and repair quickly.

5. Enjoying a massage will help your body from the very top of your head to the very tips of your toes. As we have already mentioned, a massage helps improve circulation, but it does other things too. A massage will help stimulate the movement of the lymphatic system; it will enhance your mental alertness and improve your joint mobility also.

6. How often should you get a massage? Overall, your health and well-being are worth at least an hour once per month with experts who can tailor the massage to your individual requirements. However, regular massage should be given once or twice a week to prevent any conditions reoccurring. It also increases stamina, patience and self-confidence. If the entire body cannot be massage, consider a simple foot or head massage before going to sleep each night. The benefits to your sleep, health and wellbeing can be dramatically improved by taking time to focus on yourself

Every client experiences different benefits from massage. Why not book a massage with Elley Spa now and see the benefits you notice from an enjoyable massage.
